Yes the same Jim Messina from the uber gay duo Loggins and Messina. In 1964 a 17 year old Jim Messina put out "The Dragsters". This is a great surf album. Jim Messina does not publicly acknowledge this release, which is a real shame because in my opinion it is one the better instrumental albums from that period.
